We conduct user research to map out the tasks that users perform and how they would like to perform those given tasks. Live sessions are conducted with the users to capture their demographic, psychographic information, proficiency, education and other attributes. Based on the research information, series of user workflows and tasks are identified.

Defining the users' workflow and breaking it down into separate tasks is essential not only to gain an insight into how the users' would interact with the system but also helps in understanding of how to design an interface that matches users' expectations. A typical task analysis would detail out items like user profiles, major tasks, steps for each task, frequency of each step, criticality of each step, information display & data entry requirements for each step.
